Several successful events on the Square in Downtown: Business Showcase, Daylily Festival, Farmer’s Market, Harvest Day (even after Hurricane Michael the festival was a huge success)

The City of Headland has installed sidewalks along Broad St and connecting other sidewalks to make it easier for residents to navigate to and from downtown, Douglas Park with Recreational Services and other business areas. Alabama Power is in the process of replacing 709 street lights to increase lighting and visibility at night and in high traffic areas. The City of Headland has installed sewage system updates and applied for USDA grant funds to update water meters with digital read meters. Commercial investments of approximately 3.78 Million dollars into the 431 Corridor for new businesses and expansions. City wide Commercial investments are estimated to exceed 4.5 million. Two new subdivisions have broken ground near the Downtown area to provide organized residential development.
