Leadership Development Description:
There are several Leadership opportunities in Foley. The City financially supports the South Baldwin Chamber in their various endeavors & staff serve in various capacities on committees, etc. The Chamber holds monthly Leadership Luncheons & bring speakers from Governor Ivey to others throughout the State. The Chamber also created the Gateway Initiative which has taken on several topics – workforce development is one of the tasks. The City of Foley Library hosts Lunch & Learn and similar events. The City hosts a monthly meeting named PLAN (Plan Lower AL Now). We schedule speakers and work together on regional planning issues.

Briefly describe progress in implementing sections of the strategic plan.
Our Strategic Plan is tied to a 10 Year Budgeting Plan that is updated annually. City Council & Department Heads provide this information so our Finance Department can plan & we can budget accordingly. There are projects that are unexpected but we try to incorporate both the citizens wishes & our long-range planning for these projects. A list is attached.

Briefly describe Comp Plan projects in progress or completed
We have almost completed the SE Quad Comp Plan Update & the Downtown Comp Plan Updates. We received grants from the ADCNR Coastal Zone Management Program to update these portions of the Comp Plan. We will submit for another phase during next years grant cycle. The SE Quad update should be adopted at the February 20, 2019 Planning Commission meeting. The Downtown update should be adopted at the March 20, 2019 Planning Commission meeting. We completed most of the action items in our existing Comp Plan. These include: Downtown Revitalization (Designated Main Street); Mixed Use Zoning; Pedestrian Bridge; Historic Districts/new National Register; Overlays on FBE at major intersections; Landscape Buffering between uses; Event Center; New connector Streets; Multi-Use Paths; New school under construction; Graham Creek Nature Preserve/Interpretive Center; Scenic Byway & similar projects.
