The Eufaula Wildlife Refuge was established in 1964, thereby creating a protected habitat for endangered and threatened species, as well as for wintering waterfowl and other migratory species. Spanning 11,184 acres on both sides of the Chattahoochee River, the diverse refuge includes wetlands, croplands, woodlands and grasslands, which are home to such animals as the bald eagle, American alligator, bobcat, and the peregrine falcon, along with the more common quail, armadillo, and beaver.
A seven mile auto tour route, two observation platforms, a one third mile walking trail, youth hunts, fishing, photography, and other opportunities are available daily. For educational programs, Birding Trail Species list, hunting and fishing regulations, and all other regulations on the refuge, contact the Visitor Station
