A beautiful facility along the Alabama River at Franklin, Alabama, this park and campground encompasses the Claiborne Dam on The Alabama River, and houses several improved campsites, bathhouses, pavilions, boat launch, fish cleaning stations, hiking and biking trails. It is operated by the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers. The property is open to daily visitors, or by reservation the campgrounds are available. See below. The Alabama River is referred to as “the last frontier” for recreational boat traffic,and attracts kayakers, canoes, fishing boats, barges,etc. The Alabama River Museum is also a part of this property and is open for special events or by appointment by calling the Monroe County Heritage Museum, 251/575-7433.
