Scenic Whitey Lee Park was developed by the Vanity Fair Foundation in the 1950’s. A 5-acre lake is its centerpiece, and a winding drive circles this gem. It is home to ducks, birds, squirrels, and other wildlife, and is a favorite place for area residents to hike, or just enjoy nature. The Monroeville Community House, dating from the 1950’s, sits on a hill overlooking the lake, and is a treasured spot for area weddings and receptions, parties, business functions, etc. The Community House was built by the Vanity Fair Foundation in the 1950’s, and the park and Community House were donated to the City of Monroeville by Vanity Fair in the 1980’s. The park is landscaped with azaleas, camellias, dogwoods and various native Alabama Species. The lake is open for fishing by children and Senior Citizens. The grounds of the Community House also contain a covered pavilion, often used for children’s birthday parties and family reunions. Both Community House and Pavilion may be rented through the City of Monroeville. Adjoining this beautiful property is the Vanity Fair Golf Club, which boasts an 18-hole golf course and clubhouse which serves lunch Monday – Friday and is open for Sunday lunch and Tuesday evening meals, also available by reservation.
Community House & Pavilion available by reservation and for a fee.
