David Mathews Center for Civic Life

david mathews logo

Rachel Mosness is the ACE representative for the David Mathews Center for Civic Life, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to strengthening civic life in Alabama. The Center builds skills, habits, and capacities for more effective civic engagement and decision making in all of Alabama’s 67 counties. Programming includes convening and moderating deliberative public forums, conducting moderator and convener training workshops, and developing local youth leadership. The Mathews Center authors the Alabama Civic Health Index to measure how Alabamians engage with each other and the issues they care about. DMC signature programs equip Alabamians with tools to find strength within themselves, their fellow citizens, and their communities, in order to build solutions to complicated community problems and pressing public issues. The DMC believes that Alabamians should play a role in defining the issues – and solutions – that affect their daily lives. For additional information, visit mathewscenter.org
